⚒️ Southern Hemisphere Mining Limited reports its recently completed MT survey was also successful in defining a second large resistivity anomaly west of the Ferro deposit at its Llahuin Copper Project in establishing a sub-circular target 500m in diameter and extending to 500m deep – named the Ferro West – Copper Target.

This is in addition to the large Curiosity Copper Target announced on 15 April 2025.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The new Ferro West low resistivity MT target west of the Ferro copper deposit also has copper oxides at surface identified from detailed surface geological mapping program.

Southern Hemisphere Mining is pleased to report further results from the recently completed deep penetrating Magneto-Telluric (“MT”) geophysical survey, completed over the 100% owned Llahuin Copper-Gold Project in Chile.

Commenting on the new Ferro West geophysical survey results, Chairman Mark Stowell said:

“The Magneto-Telluric survey is really adding to the understanding of Llahuin and where the large prizes are potentially hidden.

This technique has been very successful in other discoveries, so we are looking forward to testing this all at Llahuin with drill planning underway.”

Technical Discussion:

An area of particular interest is the deep zone of low resistivity defined by 3D inversion modelling of the MT dataset at Ferro West. This is also indicated by the presence of copper oxides previously unmapped at surface uncovered during the detailed surface geological mapping program currently in progress.

The presence of the black copperwad oxides is considered a good sign as these were also seen at South Ferro during drill pad construction prior to the Ferro South extension discovery in 2024 drilling. (announced 10 February 2025). This adds weight to the MT resistivity anomaly at depth. The copperwad assayed with the Vanta M series pXRF confirmed copper oxides.

Testing of this large 500m diameter extending 500m deep target will need approximately 6 holes. One historical RC drillhole in 2011-12 by previous management (announced 19 August 2013) extended into the low resistivity target and intersected low grade copper but was drilled wet from 88m, (a suboptimal technique as the RC fines are washed away). This RC hole is under evaluation as a candidate for deeper extension to the centre and through the target with diamond core as the drillhole is already 190m deep, so potential significant cost and time saving.

2D and 3D inversion models for the distribution of resistivity indicate zones of moderate to low resistivity within a broadly resistive setting, except for a relatively shallow interval of moderate low resistivity perhaps related primarily to sedimentary cover and/or weathering.

Although the relationship between resistivity and lithology, alteration and mineralization are non-unique, these deeper zones of moderate-low resistivity are compatible with the presence of conductive metallic sulphide mineralization, subject to integrated interpretation including alternative sources of geological information.

Conclusion

The combination of the MT resistivity low and surface copper oxides and limited drilling in the area present Ferro West as a new drilling target. The historical drill pad where the copper oxides were found was not previously used and can be utilised for part of the drilling.

Drilling quotes for this drilling and the deep hole to test the deep Curiosity Copper Target are currently being sought from experienced companies that have successfully demonstrated that they can drill up to 2km depth.
