Southern Hemisphere Mining

Mantos Grandes

The Mantos Grandes Project was purchased from Sundance Resources Limited in early 2008. The Project was an operating copper-gold mine based on a skarn ore body. It includes a 200 tonne per day processing plant, a 923 hectare rural property and water rights.

The Mantos Grandes project is centred at 30° 51”S and 70° 34”W and is located approximately 400 kms northeast of Santiago. It represents a target for high grade, hypogene, skarn related copper mineralisation with significant gold and silver credits within moderate sized satellite bodies. In 1999 an aeromagnetic survey was completed and used as the basis of a regional targeting programme. This was followed by a geological mapping to exploration drilling programme which tested the regional targets, near mine prospects and extensions to known copper and gold mineralisation. The results included that the El Maiten grassroots area was a good target.

Apart from this activity there has been no recent exploration works but the Mantos Grandes project area will be one of the Company’s future exploration targets.
